Week Nine

Hello All,

My Favorite Bit of Information From The Week:

I am very excited to share this week’s information! I discovered an organization in the U.K. called Mind. They offer education, information, and support to those experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to increase governmental awareness and support. And they are also huge on removing the stigma surrounding mental health in the culture.

Here is one of their informational videos: it focuses on what it’s like to have a mental health problem as a young person. These young people and their stories are truly inspiring. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_y97VF5UJcc

The only caveat I will add,to the video above, is that you don’t need to have an inciting event (such as divorce, or another potentially stressful life event) to initiate depression, anxiety, or many other types of mental struggles. It’s the only point I think the video is not particularly clear on.

A bit more about the organization Mind: Stephen Fry, one of my favorite creatives and activists, is their president. The organization has been active for 60 years and is incredible. I feel that this is the direction Hope For The Day (My partner organization) is growing towards.

One of their prime slogans: “We won’t give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect”.

Check this out: They also have a MASSIVE lexicon of information on various mental health disorders, it’s truly incredible. If you have ever longed for a short and informed description on P.T.S.D; bi-polar disorder;or almost any other mental health struggle this is the place to get a start. They also have incredible videos associated with many of their descriptions. This organization is meant for London and Wales, but 95 percent of their content is applicable globally.

Update on my Show:

Puppets and Vanessa: I was able to meet with my amazing and talented puppet coach Vanessa, and have been specifying certain scenes and techniques to make the show as clear and beautiful as possible!

Also, continuing edits on the script with the supervision of my Hope For The Day partners!

New Resources From Last Week:

I know this is sort of a cop out, but I love this A-z list so much from Mind that I am going to share it again! I hope you find as much joy, inspiration, and education from this resource as I did:https://www.mind.org.uk/information-support/a-z-mental-health/
